Browser FPS & WebGL Smoothness Test

Measure browser animation smoothness with a fixed WebGL 3D scene. See average FPS, frame intervals and long frames, with results calculated locally and no installation.

⚠️ Testing may consume power and heat your device. Close other demanding pages. Select heavy load only when needed; you can stop anytime.

WebGL · 960 × 540

The test requires a moving 3D scene, runs only after you press Start, and can be stopped anytime.

Measures animation update intervals, not a GPU score, displayed frame count or certified screen refresh rate. Refresh rate, system load, power saving and temperature affect results. Compare only the same scene version, load, resolution and duration. Long frames use a fixed >50 ms threshold, not all dropped frames.

What does FPS mean here?

Updates per second calculated from animation intervals. An update does not guarantee a frame was actually displayed.

Why is it often near 60 FPS?

Browser animation is usually limited by display refresh rate. 60 FPS does not mean the GPU can only render 60 FPS.

Why do browsers differ?

Graphics backends, system load, power saving and temperature affect results. Match scene version, mode, resolution and duration.

Why stop in the background?

Background tabs may pause or throttle animation, so the test stops without a complete result. Restart manually when visible.

Can my phone get hot?

3D rendering increases load and may use power or generate heat. Stop if uncomfortable; avoid repeated prolonged heavy tests.

What if WebGL is unavailable?

Settings, device or browser restrictions may block it. Check settings or try another browser; this does not diagnose hardware failure.

Does this predict games or every dropped frame?

No. It reflects this scene’s animation cadence. Long frames are intervals >50 ms, not every missed high-refresh frame.

How to use this tool

  1. 1 Choose a load and 15 or 30 seconds. Close other demanding pages.
  2. 2 Start the test, allow a 2-second warm-up and keep this page visible until completion.
  3. 3 Compare FPS and frame intervals under matching conditions, or copy the result. This is not hardware fault diagnosis.
