Markdown lets you format text with plain characters: # for headings, **double asterisks** for bold, a leading dash for bullet lists, [text](url) for links and triple backticks for code blocks. It is the default for GitHub READMEs, documentation sites, static-site blogs and note apps like Obsidian. This live Markdown editor shows your source on the left and the rendered HTML on the right, updating as you type, so you can see exactly how headings, lists and code will look without switching tabs or running a build.
Not sure of the syntax? Select some text and use the toolbar buttons for bold, italic, link, code, bullet list or numbered list, and the editor wraps it in the right markers for you. Load Demo drops in a sample document that covers the common elements. When you are done, Copy HTML gives you clean markup to paste into a CMS, newsletter tool or website builder, and Export .md downloads the original file for a Git repo or your notes.
Rendering is handled by the marked parser, which supports the GitHub-flavored syntax most people use: headings, nested lists, blockquotes, fenced code, tables and links. The parser is loaded from a CDN the first time you use the editor; if that request fails (for example when you are offline), a basic fallback renders only headings, bold and italic, inline code and links. Extended syntax such as footnotes or task lists varies between platforms, so preview the final result where you publish.
Your text is converted entirely in your browser and is never sent to AlpaKit. Note that drafts are not saved automatically — export the .md file or copy your work before closing the tab.
