If you have ever written a carefully spaced caption in your notes app, pasted it into Instagram or Threads, and watched every blank line disappear, you are not alone. When a post is saved, the platform tidies up extra whitespace. Lines that are empty or contain only spaces are often treated as unnecessary and collapsed, so the gaps you used to separate paragraphs vanish and the caption turns into one dense block of text.
The usual fix is to put a character on the empty line that looks blank but is not removed — often called an invisible or blank character. This tool uses Unicode U+2800, the Braille Pattern Blank. It renders as empty space, yet the system treats it as a real character, so the line survives and your spacing appears as intended. Only blank lines are replaced; lines with text stay untouched, and emoji, hashtags and @mentions are kept exactly as written.
Paste your caption into the editor, leave an empty line wherever you want a paragraph break, then click Convert & Copy and paste the result into Instagram or Threads. While you type, the tool counts characters, hashtags, mentions and lines, and warns you above 2,200 characters, 30 hashtags or 20 mentions. Platform rules can change at any time, so always check how the post looks in the app before publishing.
A few notes: the blank character still counts toward your character total, and screen readers may announce it as a symbol, so avoid long runs of empty lines. Some older devices or fonts may show U+2800 as a small box. Everything is processed in your browser and your caption is never uploaded.
