This tool converts images to WebP, PNG or JPEG and resizes them in the same step. Drag one or several images onto the drop zone, or click to browse; any format your browser can open works as a source, including PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF and SVG. Choose the output format, quality and size, press Convert & Download, and each image downloads as its own file named like photo_alpakit.webp. Everything runs on a canvas in your browser, so your images are never uploaded.
The most common reason to convert is speed: turning PNG or JPG into WebP usually gives a noticeably smaller file at similar visual quality, with transparency still supported. The quality slider goes from 10% to 100% (85% by default); lower values shrink the file but eventually blur fine detail and text edges. PNG is lossless, so the quality setting is disabled when PNG is selected. When you export JPEG, which has no transparency, you can choose the color used to fill transparent areas (white by default) instead of getting a black background.
Enter a width and height in pixels, or keep Keep Aspect Ratio checked so changing one side updates the other. Quick presets cover 100%, 50% and 25%, plus 1920 px wide (1080p) and 1280 px wide (720p). In a batch, 50% and 25% scale every image relative to its own original size; otherwise the image currently shown in the preview sets the scale and the others follow proportionally. Keep in mind that enlarging an image makes pixels bigger but cannot add real detail.
Because each image is redrawn and re-encoded, the output does not keep EXIF metadata such as the capture date, camera model or GPS location, which is a handy privacy step before sharing photos. Animated GIFs keep only their first frame. Some browsers, including certain Safari versions, cannot export WebP; in that case the file is saved as PNG and the extension matches the real format.
