Common use cases

Generate QR Codes (with custom colors/logo) and decode QR Code images offline in your browser. Use it for everyday work, development, learning, or quick verification.

Privacy and data handling

This tool runs in your browser. Before working with sensitive data, make sure you trust your browser and device environment.

QR code generator and reader: links, Wi-Fi and custom colors

This QR code tool both creates and reads codes. In generator mode, type a URL or any text and the code updates live on the right. Text is encoded as UTF-8, so accented letters, CJK characters and emoji scan correctly instead of turning into garbage. Hit Download to save a 400 × 400 px PNG with a quiet zone around it, ready for print or slides.

Switch to Wi-Fi mode, enter the network name (SSID) and password, and pick WPA/WPA2, WEP or no password. The tool builds the standard "WIFI:S:name;T:WPA;P:password;;" string and escapes semicolons, colons, commas and backslashes for you. Put it up in a shop, rental or meeting room and guests can join by pointing an iPhone or Android camera at it, no spelling out passwords.

You can set the foreground and background colors and choose the error correction level: L (about 7%), M (about 15%), Q (about 25%) or H (about 30%). Higher levels keep the code readable when part of it is covered or dirty, at the cost of a denser pattern. Use H when the center logo is on, because the logo covers roughly 22% of the middle. Dark modules on a light background give the best contrast and compatibility; light-on-dark looks stylish, but some older scanners cannot read it.

In reader mode, upload or drop an image containing a QR code, such as a screenshot or a photo. The tool decodes it in your browser with jsQR, shows the content and lets you copy it in one click. That is handy for reading a QR screenshot on a desktop, or for checking where a link really goes before you open it. Generating and decoding both happen locally; no images or content are uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Do these QR codes expire?

No. These are static QR codes: the content is encoded directly in the pattern with no redirect service in between, so they work for as long as the destination exists. The trade-off is that you cannot edit them later; if the URL changes, generate a new code.

My Wi-Fi QR code does not connect. What should I check?

Make sure the SSID (including capitalization) and password are exact, and that the security type matches your router, which is WPA/WPA2 for most home networks. Built-in iPhone and Android cameras support Wi-Fi codes; if it still fails, try dark-on-light colors with the logo turned off.

Which error correction level should I use?

For a short link printed somewhere clean, M is plenty. Choose Q or H if you add a logo or print on packaging or outdoor signs that may get scuffed. Higher levels make the pattern denser, so keep the printed size large enough to scan.

Are uploaded images stored anywhere?

No. The image is read and analyzed on a canvas in your browser, and the result only appears on screen. Very blurry, skewed or tiny codes may not decode; cropping the image down to just the QR code usually helps.
