This online screen recorder uses the Screen Capture API built into your browser, so you can record your whole screen, a single app window or one browser tab with no software to install and no watermark. It works well for tutorials, bug reports, saving part of an online meeting or putting together a quick product demo. Press Start Screen Recording and your browser opens a sharing dialog where you pick what to capture. When you are done, press Stop Recording, or click your browser's own Stop sharing button to end the recording.
Turn on Record Microphone Audio to capture your narration while you record; the tool mixes the microphone and the shared audio into a single track. Whether system or tab audio is captured depends on your browser and operating system. In Chrome and Edge it is only included when you tick the share audio option in the sharing dialog, while Firefox and Safari usually cannot capture system audio. If you deny microphone access, the tool lets you know and records just the screen and any shared audio.
Once you stop, the recording plays in the preview area, and Download Original Video saves the full file. Most browsers produce WebM, while Safari produces MP4. If you only need part of it, drag the start and end sliders to select a range and press Trim & Download Video. Trimming replays the selected section in real time and records it again, audio included, so it takes as long as the clip itself and the quality may be slightly lower than the original. Keep the tab in the foreground while it runs.
Recording and trimming happen entirely on your computer, and videos are never uploaded to an AlpaKit server. There is no recording time limit, but the video is held in memory until you download it, so very long recordings can slow your browser down. Most phone and tablet browsers do not support screen sharing; when yours does not, the tool shows a notice and suggests the latest desktop version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
